Top Ten Sure Fire ways for Being the Real You!
Friends, everything which we experience in life is all learned and programmed, either consciously or unconsciously. Let it be how we smile, how we talk, walk, get angry, feel happy, feel romantic, feel satisfied, feel jealous etc. .Everything has been learnt and is programmed in our mind on a deeper levels. Majority of the programming and learning keeps on going on an unconscious level which we fail to be aware of, but the effects are seen on the conscious level of our mind including our bodily experiences during particular feelings or emotions which we term as “Life”. Hence the entire life is lived in the ups and downs due to the unsteady nature of the acquired personality which is formed by these learned beliefs, attitudes and judgments about people and events we face in life. These layers of personality in form of deeply stored beliefs and attitude is the only reason for the human condition of suffering, happiness, excitement, sorrow, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, greed, pride, lust, jealousy, fear ,confidence and all dualities of the world and mind. This human condition can only be overcome if we truly take efforts and show burning desire to completely strip ourselves of all what we are not. Being aware and awake all the time to observe and witness is the only practice which will remove all the false identities which you have been living so far and assuming it real, yet being like a puppet in their hands.
Following are a few practices which I have personally tried before my “Self” revealed itself on dropping of the false selves. As a friend my only concern is to see my lovely friend reading this to experience his/her unique body and mind by giving him/her the taste of what they call as “ kingdom of heaven” all the time.
1)Accept first, that all this time the one who was suffering, enjoying, excited, dejected, satisfied, frustrated and all other experiences which you assumed you had, was not the real you.
2)Then whenever you feel overwhelmed, carried away, excited by emotions, purposely slow down your body movements and start practicing deep breathing. Especially when people or circumstances expect you to work and act in hurry under time constraint. Purposefully slow down all the work and listen to what the person inside wants you to do and why?
3)Ask yourself the question who is this person who seems to get excited, happy, frustrated and experience all other emotions during and after interacting with people. Please try it right now at this very moment immediately after reading this, because I am sure many of you might have judged and labeled me as fool, as a stupid person or otherwise as well. Just go that root of the person who makes these judgment and why.
4)Go openly and confront all what you fear, worry or feel hesitant about (Obviously harmless for others and u as well, might be even beneficial) like singing loudly, waving at school bus, playing with kids giving them flying kisses, smelling the breeze or the air right in the middle of road, cracking more jokes at home or office, saying sorry/ thank you instantly without thinking much, not going to temple/church/mosque etc. The point is to find out what is that person who silently suggest you to refrain you from doing these acts(or other which you want to do).Get to know that person, it’s beliefs and excuses it gives to you.
5)Try to appreciate as many people as possible throughout the day for whatever reason. You like about them. Appreciate a stranger if you find something nice about him/her. If people appreciate about you or talk good things accept it openly. But throughout the course just witness your reaction from within to find out who is person which feels good after giving and receiving compliments. Who is the person which doest not allow to appreciate and compliment others and what excuses it gives. The point is to find it out and let go of it. They are nothing but your own beliefs and ideas about your false image and self.
6)Be all mindful and observant especially when you feel hurt, jealous, hatred, greedy and negative. Try to loosen up your entire body and start breathing deeply. Just get behind the thoughts which are floating in you mind and reach out for the false self which wanted the things to go the other way but did not expect the result. Find out the person who demands things to go only in a particular way always, else it suffers.
7)Try to observe silence and stillness through out the day as much as possible and be aware of how you tense your body and breathe shallowly without any reason most of the time during the day. Practice deep breathing and keeping your body parts and joints loose and relaxes everywhere especially when you go to sleep.
8)Try to visualize your “death” happening in front of you and clearly experience the person who feels bad, afraid and unsatisfied. Try to know why is he/she feeling so and on what basis. What doest it want to hold on to and what it doesn’t want to let go and what will happen if it doesn’ happen that way?
9)Wherever you are, try to sometimes visualize how insignificant your body , your beliefs, your attitude is compared to the vast earth spinning around itself, the infinite universe and the space beyond. Try to see yourself as if you were watching yourself, others busy in their so called life matters, the earth and all the planets in the universe form outside space. Right at this moment if you feel this point to be totally absurd, just pause and track the person who thinks so and why does it thinks so? What it wants you to believe in? The point is to know the nature of your mind and how have you shaped it and your so called personality with whom you so strongly identify.
10)Try to put yourself in shoes of others as if you were having there body and mind(plants and critters included) and try to see and feel that, apart from the mechanism of body and mind which are relative and subject to change everybody has something which remains still and silent, which you have been with so far. This is the real you who has been observing and witnessing events and people interacting around. If this is the real you and the same one is in everybody then there is actually no need for you to be jealous, angry, greedy, excited, fearful of anything, since the real you will always remain as it is immaterial of what happens around. This real you is the “real life” what you truly are, which is one and only one and all other things which you have been experiencing are the “matters of life” as family life, school life, college life, love life, work life, married life, social life etc. In fact the one life has got many forms and expressions and if you start being what you are (instead of doing things to become what you are not) you shall feel connected with the entire universe ,the bodies and minds of others since all of these came from only one thing which is you, the eternal life!
